Derech HaChaim

Derech HaChaim Cemetery is located just 8 kilometers east of Jerusalem, adjacent to the city of Maale Adumim. Recently renovated and expanded, it offers a beautifully maintained and fully accessible resting place for Jews from abroad who wish to be buried in Eretz Yisrael. The cemetery overlooks the city of Jerusalem, the Mount of Olives, and the Judean Desert, making it the closest cemetery to the Temple Mount outside of Jerusalem.

The cemetery grounds include a large parking area, smooth access to graves, and full wheelchair accessibility. Visitors can also use a specialized app, provided by the Maale Adumim Municipality, to easily locate individual graves. The setting is serene, and the entire layout is designed to ensure comfort and ease for families and visitors.

The on-site funeral chapel is modern and comfortable, accommodating up to 200 guests. It is air-conditioned, wheelchair accessible, and equipped with a high-quality audio system, including external speakers for those standing outside. Services may be livestreamed or recorded if the family wishes.

All burial arrangements are handled in full accordance with Halacha and Israeli law. From the moment the deceased arrives in Israel, every aspect of the process is overseen with the utmost care and respect. Family customs are honored whenever possible, provided they align with Halachic standards. The cemetery includes designated paths for Kohanim, ensuring all religious considerations are addressed appropriately.

Plots are sold in a double-depth format, allowing two first-degree relatives to be buried one above the other. The surviving spouse is given the first right to reserve the second space, followed by parents or other close family members.

The purchase of a burial plot includes a range of services, such as airport pickup of the casket, tahara (ritual purification), use of the funeral chapel, and the burial service officiated by a qualified Rabbi.
